Homerville, GA Mrs. Susan Elaine Burchett “Ms Red” Smith, 62 passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville FL, surrounded by her loving family as they all sang Amazing Grace. “Ms Red” was born Nov. 11, 1950 in Danville, VA to Mrs. Martha Janie Mumpower Burchett, Harrisonburg, VA and the late Rev. Thomas Franklin Burchett, Jr. Ms Red was a member of the Harvest Time Church of God where she served as the Adult Sunday School Class Teacher and played the piano. She was a para-pro at the Clinch County High School in the special education department and has assisted with the band, visual unit and the concession stand for several years. Her first love was serving her Lord and Savior, followed by her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, school children and her love for working at church camp every summer. Other than her father she is preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ray and Esther Smith. Survivors other than her mother are her husband of 37 years: W. G. Smith, Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law: Chris & Michelle Smith, Lakeland; one daughter and son-in-law: Stephanie & Demory Godwin, Homerville; five grandchildren: Rebekah Mahayla Smith, Alysa Nicole Smith, Walker Shane Godwin, Camlynn Lacole Godwin and Xander Lane Godwin; one sister and brother-in-law: Sandra & Rev. Roger Chandler, Harrisonburg, VA; one brother: Thomas Franklin Burchett III, Greensboro, NC; two nephews: Timothy Chandler & Jason Chandler, Harrisonburg, VA; one niece: Amy Burchett of West VA; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Doreen & Jeff James, Lakeland; and several other relatives, friends and many many adopted children. Services for Ms Red will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at four o’clock from the New Vision Church of God. Interment will be in Pine Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Roundtree Funeral Home. Ms Red will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Susan Smith District Youth Camp Scholarship Fund, In care of New Vision Church Of God, 215 N Dickerson St Homerville Ga ,31634 Sympathy maybe expressed by signing the online registry at www.roundtreefuneralhome.net. Her extended loving family at Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
