Martha Anne Bruce White, 80 of San Carlos, California died on July 3, 2012 in San Francisco, California of pneumonia. Mrs. White was born in Homerville, Georgia on December 3, 1931 to James Barton Bruce Sr. and Ranna Mae Ramsey Bruce. She was the third of six children and spent her childhood in Homerville. She graduated from Homerville High School in 1948 and then attended Georgia State Women’s College in Valdosta, Georgia where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Her teaching degree enabled her to live in many places including Alma and Homerville, Georgia where she began her teaching career. Then she lived in Panama City, Florida where she taught for a period of time. She became a world traveler as she taught in U.S. Military Schools in Japan, France and Germany. After her time overseas, she moved to San Carlos, California where she taught kindergarten until her retirement. While there she met and married Kenneth Canfield White, the love of her life, on June 20, 1980, and became stepmother to Kenny’s grown children, Tom, K.C. Jr., Lori, Rich, Tracy and Chris. She was a licensed interior decorator, enjoyed arts and crafts and loved gardening. She was very active in the Palo Alto Hills Country Club and enjoyed decorating the facility every Christmas. She was predeceased by her husband, her stepson, Rich White, her brother James Jarton Bruce Jr. and her sister Henrietta Bruce Segal. She is survived by her husband’s children, her sisters Frances Carolyn Bruce Flexer of Saint Simons Island, Georgia and Thelma Catherine Bruce of Panama City, Florida, her brother Clayton Ramsey Bruce of Blackshear, Georgia, many nieces and nephews and her caretaker, Ivy Lavulo. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 8th at the Roundtree Funeral Home in Homerville, Georgia. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at the Pine Forest Cemetery in Homerville. She and Kenny were active members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church at 1106 Alameda, San Carlos, CA 94070. Roundtree Funeral Home in Homerville is in charge of arrangements
