James Brantley Hull

James Brantley (JB) Hull Jr., 82, died January 27, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Cord. He was born November 10, 1928 in Holopaw, FL. He was the son of the late James Brantley Hull, Sr. and Dana Lanier Hull of Palatka, FL. He retired from Hood Packaging in May 2010 after 61 dedicated years as a Packaging Engineer. He was instrumental in building what was then the Hudson Pulp & Paper Company when the Multiwall Division was transferred to Hamlet from Palatka, FL. He traveled extensively with the company all over the world, the Middle East, most of Europe, South America, Japan, Australia, and most of the Islands. He has been in every State in the US except for Hawaii. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid outdoorsman, was a great cook and loved to grill and entertain family and friends. He was a great leader, teacher, coach and well respected and well liked by all who had pleasure of meeting him. He cared deeply for his numerous nieces and nephews and family friends. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ruth Tomlinson, a son, James Brantley (Jody) Hull III, a sister, Kathryn Hull Dancy all of Palatka, FL. Surviving is his wife of 50 + years, Barbara Parker Hull of the home. Daughters, Tami Hull Thomas of Rockingham, Michelle Hull Croke and husband Keith of Ellerbe, Renee Hull James and husband Robbie of Rockingham, Vicky Hull Bennett and husband Larry of La Belle, FL. A son Benjamin Jackson Biddle of Palatka FL. A brother Joe Mack Hull and wife Nancy of Palatka FL. Grandchildren: Jennifer Brown Lockey and husband Jason of Rockingham, Kaci Michelle Croke of Ellerbe, Alec Brant Poplin of Rockingham, Thomas Bennett of Gainsville, FL, Katy Biddle ans Jolee Hull of Palatka, FL. A great-grandson Jarrett Pate Lockey of Rockingham. Numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately call him Uncle BB. His sister-in laws and brother-in- laws were very special to him. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Arabia Primitive Baptist Church at the family cemetery in Homerville, GA. Memorials may be made to Outreach For Jesus, 440 Battley Dairy Road. Hamlet, N.C. 28345. Roundtree Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
